Thanksgiving Aftermath…

We made it!

I am not going to lie, but for a minute there i almost thought that Thanksgiving dinner was just not going to happen this year. From getting the menu ready, to getting all the items on the list, and down to the preparation. I was exhausted even before i started.

Deciding on what to make it’s the fun part. Your mouth waters at the thought of tasting those delicious flavors again. For me it was all about my turkey this year. In previous years the turkey has been done ok, but this year i wanted to try something new. For starters i seasoned it differently than other years.

  • Used an injector to provide some delicious flavors on the inside. It consisted of orange juice, apple cider vinegar, and melted butter with lemon zest and the juice of the πŸ‹.
  • I used an oven bag for the turkey. Surprisingly enough it was an easy cleanup and i was able to get all that delicious juice from the turkey to make mu gravy.
  • I added a delicious rub to the turkey inside and out besides my usual sofrito. It was made with butter and that made its way all over the turkey like sunscreen lol.

Delicious Sides

After knowing how i was going to prepare the turkey, i immediately knew that the sides needed to be made from scratch. I took this approach because i wanted my family to enjoy a full home cooked meal. My daughter helped me in the prep work and even she got excited about what the menu consisted of.

I decided on a delicious vegetable yellow rice, potato salad, baked macaroni and cheese, cranberry sauce, candied yams, home made rolls, and of course stuffing.

Everything made from scratch, and it turned out great!. Learned a few tricks this year and felt thankful that i was able to make this meal for my family. Despite all of the chaos going on due to the Pandemic, we were able to enjoy Thanksgiving. I hope you and your family were able to enjoy it as well and stayed safe. Now to start preparing for Christmas dinner….
